November Schedule

Hi Everyone!

November's schedule is set.  I was told the book will be updated this weekend, your best bet is to wait until the week before classes start to come and sign up.

Classes are as follows in November:

Course 1 - Monday nights 6:30-8:30

Lesson 1 - 11/3/08

Lesson 2 - 11/10/08

Lesson 3 - 11/17/08

Lesson 4 - 11/24/08

Fondant & Gum Paste - Wednesday nights 6:30-8:30

Lesson 1 - 11/5/08

Lesson 2 - 11/12/08

Lesson 3 - 11/19/08

Lesson 4 - 11/26/08

Course 2 - Thursday nights 6:30-8:30

Lesson 1 - 11/6/08

Lesson 2 - 11/13/08

Lesson 3 - 11/20/08

No class on 11/27/08 due to Thanksgiving

Lesson 4 date is TBD

Please note the handouts at the store say the final day of Course 2 is 11/27.  They were printed before I realized that date was Thanksgiving.  I am going to discuss the final class with my students at the first night to see what would work best for everyone.  Please let me know if you plan on taking course 2 and have any input you want to share before the class starts.

Hi all!

I've set up a new poll on the blog and would really appreciate it if everyone would take the time to place a vote.  I've been asked at Michaels about low attendance and while I can assume the answers (financial issues being one I'd most likely assume), I'd like to get an idea for real.  It's a completely anonymous poll so please be honest and feel free to vote for as many reasons as you feel pertain to your situation.  I'll be using the answers to try to come up with some solutions with the store team.  Thanks in advance!

Candy Class Cancelled

I apologize to anyone who may have been interested but this month's candy class has been cancelled.  I do plan on offering it again in October and hopefully once a month from then on.  Stay tuned for the October date.

September 27th Candy Class

I'd like to offer a candy making class after the demo on 9/27.  The demo is from 1pm-3pm and the class would be 3pm-5pm.  I would need a minimum of 6 students to hold the class.  The class is a one-session class,  all about candy making with Wilton candy melts, cost is $15 plus supplies.  Anyone interested?

The class coordinator is currently getting up to speed with everything since things have changed a bit since she was previously doing the job.  You may want to wait a few days before going to register - I just spoke with her today and she was going to start setting things up.

Those of you taking Course 2 or 3 - please make sure to get the class syllabus sheet so you have the supply list needed for lesson 1.  We jump right into decorating for those classes, not like course 1.  I am going to do my best to get copies of those lists posted here so you can all be sure to be prepared.  But please do try to get the syllabus sheet - there is a bar code for a 10% coupon for Wilton products on it.

Looks like we'll be having course 3 in July!  I have yet to get a hold of the class coordinator - I'm hoping to get her tomorrow and finalize the class schedule.  Just wanted to keep everyone updated!

Please see the poll at the right (hopefully the glitches I'm experiencing will work themselves out on this - let me know if there are any problems with the poll).

What I'm looking for is whether to offer Course 3 or the Fondant and Gum Paste course in July.  I will definitely be holding Courses 1 and 2, but will need to switch off each month between Course 3 and F&GP.  Keep in mind that in order to take Course 3 you need to have taken Course 2, but to take the F&GP class you only need to have taken Course 1.  

I am leaving the poll open until Monday morning.  Then I will work with the class coordinator Monday to set up the schedule.

Whichever class isn't offered in July will be offered in August.

Hi Everyone!

Can you believe it's already almost the middle of June?  Where has time gone??  It has definitely been hectic in our household with our new addition, but we're slowly getting into a bit of a pattern.  Hopefully a schedule won't be too far off - one that I can keep to!

There have been some minor changes at the store, mainly a new classroom coordinator.  The good news is she was actually the coordinator previously so she knows what she's doing.  I spoke with her last week to start getting things set up for July.  I plan on speaking with her again in the next few days with the actual schedule for the month, and maybe for August also.  As soon as that is done I will post the information here.  I'm also going to see about adding a calendar somehow here - that way with a click of a button you'll be able to see the schedule easily!

So we will definitely be having classes in July.  There are also a couple of promos by Wilton for July's classes - I just have to check to see what they are exactly.  Before I finalize the schedule for July, though, I'd like a bit of feedback - see the poll on the side bar and please vote.   I'll keep it open through the weekend and then set up the schedule accordingly.

It's a Boy!

Mason Louis was born on May 14, 2008 (a day early!) at 2:36 pm. He weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz and measured 21 inches long.

Copyright Law - Important to Anyone Who Posts Pictures on the Internet

This is pretty disturbing, and I urge everyone who reads this to click on the links in this post.

There is a new copyright bill going up for becoming law that will basically give rights to anyone to use any image posted on the internet as free domain. There is a very informational blog post about that here on Claudine Hellmuth's blog. There are links in this post to help you generate letters to congress. It's very easy and you can just send a "form letter" or there are options to change and edit what is there.

I think the whole blogging world should be aware of this - really the whole world in general. Anyone who posts any type of image on the internet, be it family photos or artwork or scrapbook pages or any sort of doodle.

I went to the link to write the letters to my congress representatives and it really was very easy. Please take a minute to check this out and protect yourself and your artwork / family photos.
